Delegation Hosting

CASA hosts and co-hosts 1-2 week educational delegations in Mexico for students, churches, and solidarity groups.  Delegations travel throughout different parts of Mexico (primarily Oaxaca and Chiapas) learning from a wide range of community groups, social movements, and non-governmental organizations.

Delegations are organized to reflect groups' particular interests.  Previous themes have included "Religion and Social Struggle", "Chiapas Political Context", "Immigration", "Human Rights Situation in Oaxaca", "Fair Trade", or service-oriented trips.  Delegations typically discuss neoliberal globalization and its effects on Mexico, immigration, privilege and international solidarity, and social justice struggles in Mexico and the US.

Our Workshops provide some sense of the kinds of topics we cover. Also check out our Sample Delegation Itinerary Chiapas or Sample Delegation Itinerary Oaxaca for a sense of the pace of the delegation.

Costs depend on the number of people and length of trip, but typical costs range between $550-$1000 per delegate, not including airfare to Mexico. This fee includes: transportation within Mexico, translation, donations to speakers and communties, materials, food, and housing.

If your group is interested in collaborating with CASA to design an educational delegation to Mexico, please Contact Us. Three to four months advance notice will give us ample time to refine materials and arrange logistics.
